Fairfield County’s green people gathered at the Stamford Marriott Wednesday for an rousing environmental get-together. Monica Leggett chatted with Jillian Carbone about solar energy amid displays for environmentally friendly products and holistic health solutions. The event was the third annual Fairfield County Green Faire, held to tout green awareness, businesses and lifestyles.

The Third Annual Fairfield County Green Coast Award winners have been announced at an event that took place at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa and kicked off The Annual Green Faire Business to Business Expo and Green Drinks Reception. Among this year’s winners that were announced are Greenest City, Greenest Mayor; Leader in Green Job Training, Leader in Renewable Energy, Eco-friendly Restaurant and more.
The Green Faire, presented by Conscious Decisions, includes a Business-to-Business Expo from noon to 4:30 featuring green technology, healthy living products, group discussions and networking with sustainability experts, followed by a Green Drinks Reception from 6-9 p.m., featuring green businesses, organizations and conservation groups, live music, networking in a friendly atmosphere, complimentary appetizers and no host bar.
New to The Green Faire this year is The Town Green, sponsored by The Community Innovation Grants Program of The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, and highlights clean energy, and grassroots projects, and will include a car that runs on vegetable oil as well as information about a number of sustainable projects going on throughout Fairfield County.
The Green Coast Awards honor and recognize individuals, businesses, services, and organizations throughout Fairfield County that are socially and environmentally responsible, promote sustainability, have high ethical standards and make conscious decisions everyday to improve our communities and the health of the planet. Voting for the awards took place online until November 5th, at www.greencoastawards.com where individuals had the opportunity to cast their votes for individuals, organizations, and businesses that embody the ideals of the Green Coast Awards. Once the votes were counted, winners were reviewed by the Green Coast Awards Advisory Council to insure they met the GCA guidelines.
